The answer has to do with water and when to use it. All our installations come with custom watering instructions based on your soil, the plants planted, the sunlight exposure and the time of year planted.

We slowly dial back the frequency and increase volume as the install matures encouraging the plants to root deeper.

Deeper roots allow for more infrequent irrigations which decrease nutrient loss in the soil (consequently the need for fertilization) and the probability of pest infestations and fungal disease.

A plant with deeper roots is more likely to survive drought conditions or freezing, grow at a more natural moderate pace (so you wont need a trim every week) and produce more flavorful, nutritious food.
